Spreadsheets encompass a lot of the things we need to be able us to collect information in field trials and are a useful conduit between trials management software and statistical packages used for data analysis. The problem is there is a tendancy to use spreadsheets for more than data collection. Using spreadsheets to generate tables is not optimal - often, when formatting a data table we are presenting information in a way that is not really meant to be read as data, and often involves special formatting (merging cells, creating borders, making it pretty).
This course looks at the cardinal rules of data collection in spreadsheets, showing how making small changes to the way you format your data can have a great impact on efficiency and reliability when it comes to data cleaning and analysis and how to look out for potential errors that can have a negative effect on downstream analysis and result interpretation.
